The rays of the sun filtering through the sky saturated with pine pollen. At times it can look like smoke on the horizon. You can wipe the camera lens and literally watch the pollen start to collect almost immediately. The warm weather is triggering massive releases from our Loblolly, Long, and Shortleaf Pine. When I walk around with the Osmo Pocket 3, people either ask me about it, or have a confused look on their face. It's an amazing camera, especially for low light conditions. Winter drone photography is finicky. In NC, some of the grasses are warm season and turn brown. Hardwood trees stand stark among the evergreens, which are a dark shade of green. Sunsets however, offer an array of colors, and building lighting creates some great pop. I am still ready for the new greens of spring, but until then, enjoy these views of @mosaicatchathampark and Northwood Landing and the New Hampton Inn. @hamptonpittsboro

What’s a Megasite? It’s acreage large enough to support a big manufacturing facility, located near rail lines and with access to utilities. In the triangle region of NC, we have 3 within central NC that are under construction. 🚧 🚜👷👷‍♀️ The Roaming Drone specializes in capturing construction progress of any size project. Most of these projects are barely noticeable on a drive, but a bird’s eye view tells a different story.

ADS-B is the radio broadcast system that allows you to use apps to track aircraft. (Except for drones in NJ apparently) but check this out! This pilot flew his plane in the shape of a Christmas tree today! 😃👏🏻✈️🎄

This is a set of 5, 5 second exposures I took with the Mavic 3 trying to capture the Tsuchinshan - ATLAS comet. I could barely see it with the naked eye in Pittsboro, and we don't have much light pollution here. Because the exposures were so long, I was able to edit the photo in Adobe Lightroom to get what you see here. What is incredible is the ability of the drone to hover still for approximately 30 seconds to take the shots. #Mavic3 #DJI

The majestic Siberian Retriever Eli poses with his trademark single floppy ear. This highly evolved trait allows him to audibly scan both above, and below ground. He has been known to pounce on an unsuspecting mole burrowing in the yard and bring it out into the light, explaining to it how rude it is to dig tunnels through the family yard. He truly is master of his domain and fully embraced by his pack. The sun sets on another Appalachia Service Project trip. These shots are from Brenton West Virginia, just above the Guyandotte River. This week our team did a "hug" on the mobile home of a family. This is where you put a new roof on, then house wrap the home, add foam insulation, and then finish with vinyl siding. It makes the home warmer, safer, and drier, which is the goal of ASP. We got to spend the week with the family, sharing stories and eating lunch with them. Sadly, of the 200 families that applied in Wyoming County, only 10 were chosen for home repair due to the amount of funds and volunteer help available. These are Americans. Brothers and Sisters. Our neighbors. Some dealing with health issues, extreme poverty, or a combination of both, looking for help. Despite all the programs the government has to help, we as citizens need to walk towards the uncomfortable places and be the hands and feet of Jesus. How do we help our neighbors? in Luke 10:25-37 the Master Teacher tells the story of the good Samaritan. It is pretty clear who our neighbors are, despite our differences. This is how we heal and restore our land. We treat each other as neighbors, and not just help them, but give more than is expected. ASP does an amazing job in teaching this to our youth, who are in desperate need of guidance in how to serve and do what is right. To care for and help those in need despite how uncomfortable it may be. The theme this year is #buildingkindness and comes from Ephesians 4:32. "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you" (NIV) Lastly, if you don't like the way the world is right now, change starts with me, and it starts with you. Thoughts lead to ideas, which lead to actions, which lead to the manifestation of those thoughts into something real. Gandhi was absolutely right when he said "Be the change you wish to see in the world." 10 year anniversary of flying small UAS. 8 years as an FAA Part 107 commercial pilot. Still love flying and try to improve every flight! Pictured, DJI Phantom 3 advanced, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 3. Started on a Phantom 2 Vision+, but she was sold when the Phantom 3 was bought, and sadly crashed into a saltwater marsh at the coast by the new owner. 😑

Checked in on the mother Bald Eagle and her 2 young ones seem to be doing well. They have lost most of their light colored feathers. The other photos are of the Chatham Church Road bridge. Built in 1921, this bridge may be decommissioned soon by the NCDOT. The bridge is currently closed. Hopefully it will be turned into a pedestrian bridge rather than be taken down. It's just such a cool old bridge! Thanks to @rockyriverbees for the heads up on this one!

This is a zoomed in photo from the Mavic 3 I fly. (7x) I was about 400' away from the nest in a steady hover so as not to disturb this mother and her two babies. We know the babies are less than 5 weeks old because Bald Eagles don't grow brown feathers until they are between 5-9 weeks old. I used the AI noise reduction in Lightroom to make this picture look better, as the Zoom on the standard Mavic 3 isn't really made for quality, only scouting. I guess it's time to upgrade to the Mavic 3 Pro if I need to do reconissance like this again. 7X Zoom on the Mavic3 can get you some cool shots. This is Harris Nuclear Power Plant. The three buildings waaaaaay off on the horizon are in downtown Raleigh. This was taken 3 miles southwest of the nuclear plant near the Vinfast Mega Site.
